ShanDaria was destined for her place in the spotlight—microphone in hand, crafting songs that speak directly to the masses. Over the years, the R&B songstress has carefully developed her sound and style, culminating in this exact moment. With the release of her latest single “Livin,” Shandaria set the stage, though now, she’s ready to stand on it.
Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, ShanDaria’s voice was far from a discovery…it was simply always there. “I’ve been singing forever,” she recalls. Her childhood was spent humming through commercials and singing during kindergarten circle time—where she boldly asked her teacher if she could sing in front of the class. Music wasn’t just ShanDaria’s pastime. It was her compass. Raised as the eldest in a blended family, ShanDaria learned early on how to build her own world, a world where sound and storytelling held up the foundation.
Her influences run the gamut of R&B greats, including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Faith Evans, and later Jazmine Sullivan. But it’s that lineage of soulful women with something to say that molded ShanDaria’s artistry. Faith Evans sits at the top of her list, and you can hear that same blend of truth and emotion in her own music. It’s a mix that she describes as the intersection of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul, mixed with her own Southern edge.
The spark to pursue music professionally started right after college. “I recorded an album, I had a manager, all that stuff,” she reflects. “But Charlotte was a much different place back then, and the way to make it was a lot different. So it just got real frustrating.” She pivoted into entrepreneurship, starting businesses across Charlotte and building her name in the Hair and Beauty world.
After years of balancing motherhood and work, ShanDaria found herself drawn back into the orbit of her first love: music. What began as a group project with two close friends eventually shifted into a solo journey. That move ultimately navigated her current run, marked by a series of singles that blend lived experience with undeniable vibes. Her first offering, “Rid Of You,” delivered grown-woman honesty about cutting ties and moving on, while her most recent single, “Livin” (produced by J-Stylz), captures the joy of moving through life with optimism and purpose. “It’s positive, it’s motivating, it’s inspiring” she explains, “it’s the soundtrack to actually living your life to the fullest.” But there’s so much more in store.
This holiday season, ShanDaria will re-release her single “Santa,” a Christmas record that showcases her knack for both seasonal joy and a timeless R&B spirit. While she’s already back in the studio—lining up her next canon of songs (and working with new producers and songwriters)—her core mission remains clear: to make music that’s both authentic and makes the people feel something.
ShanDaria is beyond chasing trends—she’s building timeless R&B for those who know life, love, and loss, but still find ways to keep on livin’. “I believe music is mostly feeling,” she says. “From the instruments to the lyrics, it’s about honesty. My songs are real stories, and when people hear them, they know it’s coming from a real place.”
